Summary
UON provides power and water supply to a permanent village at Hope Downs 4 iron ore mine site in Western Australia.
Background Information
The HD4 iron ore mine site in the Pilbara Region needed a permanent village to accommodate 920 rooms for employees, as a result of expansion to the site. UON was commissioned by Rio Tinto to customise a turnkey power station and provide a potable water supply to the village. This involved the design, construction, installation and maintenance (the complete solution) of a 5MVA permanent power station, potable water infrastructure and a waste water treatment plant.
Key Success
A key success of HD4 is in UON's flexible approach. When unavoidable external delays caused our clients short-term issues, UON was able to step in, providing temporary generators from our hire fleet, to power up their temporary offices and facilities, while we worked with them to ensure the power station was being completed in a timely manner. The client also made full use of our end-to-end service, from consultation through to implementation and ongoing maintenance and remote monitoring.
