UON Pty Ltd (ABN 44 099 963 354) trading as UON (referred to here as “UON”, “we”, “our”, “us”) values your privacy and the security of your personal data. Our goal is to outline to you, as simply as possible, how and why we gather, store, share and use your personal data. We also want to explain the controls and choices you have around when and how you choose to share your personal data. This Privacy Collection Statement (Statement) will go into detail and explain this further.

This Statement applies to the collection of personal information by UON in its integrated energy and water business from UON’s customers who contact a UON Representative, or who provide information to UON through the www.uon.com.au website.

We may, from time to time, in our absolute discretion, update this Statement, the most recent version will always be available on our website.

UON is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), as amended from time to time, (Act). The purpose of the APPs is to govern standards, rights and obligations regarding personal information.

The Act defines personal information as meaning information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable:

  1. whether the information or opinion is true or not; and
  2. whether the information or opinion is recorded in a material form or not.

  1. WHAT DATA WE COLLECT FROM YOU

When you enquire about our services, or when you become a client of UON, a record is made which includes your personal information. The type of personal information that we will collect will depend on the circumstances of collection and the kind of service that you request from us.

We have set out, below, the categories of personal data that will be collected:

  • User Data: this is personal data that is provided by you or collected by us to enable you to accept and receive UON services. This is also personal data provided by you or collected by us that enables us to use your services. This may include your full name, email address, phone number, birth date, business and/or residential address and country;
  • Usage Data: this is the personal data collected through your use of UON’s services or UON’s use of your services. This may include your full name, email address, phone number, birth date, business and/or residential address and country;
  • Purchase and Payment Data: this is the personal data collected when you make a purchase from UON and which will enable us to provide you with an overall better service. This is also personal data collected when we make a purchase from you for your services or goods. The exact personal data collected will vary depending on product or service as well as the payment method but may include information such as:
    • name, address, post code, email address;
    • credit or debit card type, expiration date, and certain digits of your card number;
    • details of your purchase and payment history;
    • mobile phone number; and
  • Sensitive Information: we may need to collect sensitive personal information about you. We will only ever do this when you have provided consent or in accordance with any applicable laws and regulations. Sensitive information is defined in the Act as including information or an opinion about an individual’s personal information relating to their racial or ethnic origin, health information, religious beliefs, membership of a trade union, sexual orientation, criminal record, genetic information and political opinions.
  1. HOW WE COLLECT YOUR DATA

We collect your personal information from a number of sources, including:

  • directly from you, if it is reasonable and practicable to do so;
  • depending on the nature of our interaction with you, we may collect personal information from third parties – for example, from people that you have engaged to assist you, such as business associates. We will also, from time to time, collect personal information from our related companies or regulators that contact us; and
  • cookies; our website may contain cookies. Cookies are small pieces of data stored by the web browser on your device. The cookies allow us to provide content tailored specifically to you. If you do not want us to use cookies, you can disarm this feature on your device; however, this may diminish your experience of our website.

We may disclose your personal information, in accordance with this Statement, to our related bodies corporate; contractors or service providers for the purposes of operating our business or website, responding to your requests, or providing or delivering our products and services or information about them to you; to suppliers and third parties with whom we have commercial relationships, for business, marketing and related purposes; in the case of our services customers, to your nominated advisor (if any) or other advisor assisting you, to the providers of information technology systems and databases that assist in the provision of the services; to payment providers to enable them to process your payments and for anti-fraud purposes; to prospective or actual purchasers of our businesses; and to regulatory or government agencies when  we believe, in good faith, it is necessary for us to do so in order to comply with a legal obligation under applicable laws, or respond to a valid legal process, such as a search warrant, a court order or a subpoena.

  1. OVERSEAS DISCLOSURES

UON may subcontract processing to, or share your personal data with, third parties located in countries other than Australia as we may use providers located overseas. The APPs require us to ensure any foreign country is compliant with the APPs, unless you consent otherwise. Any submission of your personal information will constitute consent for such information to be stored, transferred, disclosed or processed outside of Australia.

All complaints will be considered by us, and we may seek further information from you to clarify your concerns. If we agree that your complaint is well founded, we will, in consultation with you, take appropriate steps to rectify the problem.
