Yandi Mine Site (J.S.W.) - Dewatering and Dust Suppresion

The JSW mine needed to develop their dewatering system to facilitate expansion of the site and enable below the water table operations to be successful, while at the same time meeting dust suppression standards. As a result, Hamersley Iron Ltd. contracted UON to (a) install 11 out-of-pit bores and 1 off- in-pit bore to reduce the water table levels, in addition to (b) a transfer pumping station at the turkeys nest for filling water carts for road dust suppression. (Additional information - Excess water from the turkeys nest is fed back into the discharge pipeline for existing and future operation water requirements).

Background Information

The JSW mine needed to develop their dewatering system to facilitate expansion of the site and enable below the water table operations to be successful, while at the same time meeting dust suppression standards. Key Success

A key success of JSW Yandi mine site is the ability to internally monitor the site; the whole project is autonomously controlled and monitored using an integrated Telemetry and Citech system that is linked via Fibre Optics and wireless connections fed into the Yandi HMI headquarters. This system allows our client to integrate data from every component to have full real time date monitoring ability from the HQ to optimise their operations.

    • 11 x Fixed Bore Pump Packages including connection to permanent power
    • 1 x In-pit Bore Pump Package including Generator
    • Install a new Turkey's Nest Transfer pumping station, pipework and concrete footings
    • 2 x Transfer Pumps including Control panels
    • Installation of SCADA remote monitoring using radio local Telemetry and Citech systems
