UON Racing

UON Racing adds an adrenaline-charged aspect to the UON social calendar, providing staff with the opportunity to partake in SB20 One Design Yacht training races, competitive regattas and championship events with world renowned sports stars throughout the year. The company formed in 2011 to provide UON staff a sense of community, team-work and relationship building outside of the office and has gained a lot of popularity amongst staff over the years.

The UON Racing Fleet

The UON Racing fleet is composed of 5 SB20s. They are One Design Sports Yachts which are fast and technical by nature. Each boat is sailed by 3 or 4 people with a maximum crew (in professional events) of 270 kgs; the racing is extremely close and exhilarating.

We encourage staff, friends and family to contact Declan Keogh (Head Coordinator) to get involved in weekend events in Fremantle Sailing Club. Practical training will be provided on the day, so it does not matter if you have never sailed before. It's a fun day out for everyone!

UON Racing Sponsorship

UON Racing reached the world stage in 2012 when UON sponsored the SB20 World Championships from 12-20 December on the Whitsunday Islands. This event attracted some of the best Olympian class sailors from around the world and is recognised by the ISAF and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The SB20 World Championships proved to be a sensational event where 42 crews from around the globe, including 2 UON Racing teams (Sidewinder and Squalo Bianco, composed of staff and 4 aboriginal girls), competed for the SB20 class world title in Hamilton Island. The event was perfectly set in the picture perfect destination at the edge of the Great Barrier Reef, surrounded by the Whitsunday waterways and the island's wide range of facilities.
